The National Prep Poll, distributed by World Features Syndicate and compiled by Doug Huff, had the distinction of being the only ranking which determined national champions for organizations. From 1987-99, it was the only ranking carried on a national wire service (The Associated Press) and was published in over 100 newspapers in addition to The Sporting News and Student Sports Magazine. It also was used for nine years by a national television network--ESPN's Scholastic Sports America. Source: National High School Football Record Book
